Skepta And Dizzee Play Detectives In New Video

They just want their money, right…

A few days after we watched Wiley send for Skepta on account of working with Dizzee Rascal on a new track, we can now see the finished article.

‘Money Right’, produced by Skepta, features skippy bars from Raskit and a catchy, almost-chorus from Skep, back-dropped by synths and keys: David Sylvian’s piano riff from ‘Night Porter’ by 1980s new wave band, Japan, which was also used by Ray Keith in his jungle classic ‘Terrorist’.

The accompanying video – where we see Skepta and Diz play dress-up as old school detectives – is a bong-toting, pill-popping, madcap crime caper with echoes of Beastie Boys' ‘Sabotage’. A slick piece of work with a movie-style feel, it’s a far cry from the gritty, DIY vibe of say, Skepta’s ‘That’s Not Me’ video.

The bars don’t stray too far from home though: E3 – the East London postcode that birthed grime – and Meridian Crew get shout outs, as do the “yutes in the ends, tryna get that cash” and

Dizzee is clearly happy with the result, despite Wiley’s outburst, tweeting: “When me and @Skepta finished this song I knew it couldn’t be some normal video it had to be a movie! This one’s for the culture enjoy.”

When the video was previewed a few days ago, Wiley (an MBE) launched into a lengthy, bizarre rant via his Instastory, at one point screaming: "What is happening? Why is everyone such a prick?"

It all got pretty personal too, with Wiley accusing Skepta and JME of "stealing" from Meridian Crew member Big H, and shouting: "Bro, you're Big H's DJ… remember that!"
