Rock And Roll Annex To Shut

John Lennon, Springsteen items taken off display

The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame Annex in New York is set to shut its doors, just one year after opening.

The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame is one of the most influential, yet controversial, bodies in pop music. The enormous museum devoted to the history of rock and roll, it has shed light on many obscure acts.

However its selection process has come in for criticism, with some alleging that certain genres of rock music are disadvantaged. Turning 25 years old this year, the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame opened a new museum in New York back in January.

The annex housed items from some of rock music’s most potent acts, including a notorious exhibit on John Lennon. Designed by his wife Yoko Ono the late Beatle was remembered by including a paper bag containing the blood soaked clothes from the night of his murder.

Other artists showcased in the vast annex included Michael Jackson, The Rolling Stones, Elvis Presley and more.

Now in a new move the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame have confirmed the annex will shut its doors on January 3rd – just one year after first opening. A statement on the official website claimed: “The Rock Annex is exploring opportunities for a tour that would bring exclusive artifacts to music fans and rock enthusiasts around the world.”

“Fans have just one more month to experience the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Annex NYC, showcasing rare artifacts from legendary artists including Springsteen, The Beatles, Bob Dylan, The Rolling Stones, Michael Jackson and its featured exhibit, ‘John Lennon: The New York City Years’.”
