Prince Albums Added To Tidal

Tidal has added a host of Prince albums to its catalogue on what would have been the star's 58th birthday.

The tragic loss of Prince earlier this year seemed to underline just how much we owe the Purple One, for his life and outstanding career.

Prince would have turned 58 today (June 7th) with Tidal choosing to honour this by uploading several of the singer's albums.

Known for his dislike of streaming, Prince was a Tidal supporter and said in an August 2015 statement: "After one meeting, it was obvious that Jay Z and the team he has assembled at Tidal recognise and applaud the effort that real musicians put in2 their craft 2 achieve the very best they can at this pivotal time in the music industry."

The new batch of uploads contains plenty of rarities, including the legendary 1987 release The Black Album – famously pulled from the shelves one week before release.

Elsewhere, fans can bask in Indigo Nights – documenting his O2 Arena after-parties – and the triple disc Crystal Ball collection, containing numerous outtakes from his 80s heyday.

Happy birthday, sweet Prince!
