Phosphorescent Add UK Tour Dates

New album out soon

American singer Phosphorescent has unveiled a series of UK tour dates ahead of his upcoming album.

Real name Matthew Houck, Phosphorescent are a DIY phenomenon. The group’s intensely personal brand of indie folk has risen to prominence over a series of albums, each more accomplished than the last.

Influenced by such songwriters as Wild Oldham and Neil Young, Phosphorescent makes music which recalls the past while taking issue with the modern world.

Forthcoming album ‘Here’s To Taking It Easy’ is a case in point. A times lush, the album is the singer’s second in just two years and is as easy to listen to as it evidently was to record.

The first Phosphorescent album to be recorded by a band – as opposed to Houck playing all the parts – the new record is a laid back salute to New York.

Backed by an ever changing group of musicians, Phosphorescent is set to head over to the UK to launch his new album. Due out on May 10th, the release of ‘Here’s To Taking It Easy’ will be preceded by a series of live appearances.

Due to take part at the End Of The Road festival, Phosphorescent have also been booked to perform at Bestival. Meanwhile, the band have confirmed a series of headline shows across the country.

Opening in London’s ICA on June 2nd, the group will travel around the country bringing their world weary Americana with them. Like a ripped and torn version of Fleet Foxes, Phosphorescent have tapped into something universal.

Phosphorescent are due to play the following shows:

June
2 London ICA
3 Manchester The Deaf Institute
4 Glasgow Captain’s Rest
5 Birmingham Hare & Hound
