Pawws Ends Her Silence With ‘Hear You Calling’

Her first release in almost a decade...

Pawws has shared ‘Hear You Calling’, her first new single in a decade.

The songwriter – real name Lucy Taylor – caught attention over a decade ago, part of a wave of superb alt-pop voices in London. She seemed to take a step back following her excellent ‘Sugar’ EP back in 2014, relocating to Australia and finding work behind the scenes.

A formidable pop talent, she’s penned globally recognised smash hits, working with the likes of Dua LipaFutureEllie Goulding, and Lil Uzi Vert. Now splitting her time between Sydney and London, she’s decided to return to Pawws, a project so close to her heart.

New single ‘Hear You Calling’ is a dose of 80s inspired pop music, the opaque synths carrying an evocative feel. Lyrically, it’s all about youthful romance and unrequited love, with Pawws’ echoing those sentiments perfectly in her vocal delivery.

She comments…

“’Hear You Calling’ is a song for the hopeless romantic, still believing in the impossible. I started writing this track on a rainy day in London with my good friend and ex-band mate Daniel Lindegren. I wanted to create the same heart ache I got after watching old 80s movies where the underdogs were the heroes.”

“It was important to me to keep the lyrics sincere with a certain sad sense of naivety. I then took the demo to Dave Jenkins Jr who recorded live drums, bass and guitars to take the track to a whole new magical level…”

Tune in now.
