Grimes / 4AD Tie The Knot

New album due in March

Canadian producer Grimes has signed to 4AD for the release of her next album.

Funny how things change. Far away from its 80s heyday, house of independence 4AD remains a vital imprint – only now the label plays home to Ariel Pink and Gang Gang Dance rather than Pixies or Throwing Muses.

The latest addition to the roster comes in the form of Canadian producer Grimes. Impressing with a series of releases, Claire Boucher’s haunted R&B is set to find a home on 4AD for her new studio album.

Due out on March 12th in Europe, new album ‘Visions’ is shaping up to be something pretty special. Confirming the news in her Twitter feed, Grimes said: “just want 2 say i am so honoured to be releasing my next album with 4AD”.

Elsewhere on her Twitter feed, Grimes paid tribute to Canadian artists despite the ongoing cuts by the country’s government towards longstanding arts funds. “and Doldrums!! for whome I wrote the song oblivion <3 <3 <3 <3<3<3<#<#<#<# canadian artists will kill it in 2012 despite fucking arts cuts".
