Gregg Allman UK Tour Dates

More dates confirmed

Blues guitar icon Gregg Allman has confirmed a series of headline shows across the country.

Born in the deep South, Gregg Allman was drawn to black music. Blues, R&B and soul all fuelled his musical appetite with the young guitarist soon forming his own groups and heading out on the road.

However strict segregation caused enormous problems for the young blues musician. Gregg Allman faced prejudice after employing black musicians, often being prevented from entering the venue he was booked to play.

Set to return to the UK this year, Gregg Allman will be encountering vastly different circumstances. A hugely respected musician, the guitarist has confirmed shows in some of the country’s most historic venues.

Opening in the Barbican on July 1st, Gregg Allman will play shows across the nation. Speaking to ClashMusic recently, the guitarist reflected on those career shaping early tours.

“We played some pretty rough joints” he said. “We played a couple that had chicken wire on the front so the beer bottles wouldn’t hit you.”

“You’ve got the big chicken wire screen and the bottles bounce off. They were usually throwing them at someone else – they weren’t throwing them at us! They’d bounce off some poor redneck’s head.”
