Forest Swords Announces New Album ‘Bolted’

His first full length in six years...

Forest Swords will release new album ‘Bolted’ on October 20th.

The producer – real name Matthew Barnes – last released a full length in 2017, with his rightly lauded ‘Compassion’. Since then, he’s worked on a number of different projects, including soundtrack work and installations.

Signalling his return with the heavy duty industrial artistry of the ‘Butterfly Effect’ single, Forest Swords have now laid out plans for his new album. Out on October 20th via Ninja Tune, it’s an 11-tracker that takes the Merseyside musician’s work in different directions.

A short run of UK shows takes place in November, with Forest Swords sharing expansive new single ‘The Low’. Seemingly the song has its roots in production work designed tone used by Yoko Ono, before taking on a life of its own.

He comments…

“’The Low’ was based on a beat I’d originally intended for Yoko Ono, and features elements I made both at the start and end of the album, so ties together a lot of the sounds and emotions I was exploring during the writing process. The accompanying video directed with Sam Wiehl expands on some of my artwork and visual world that accompanies the record”.

Tune in now.
