Brother Forced To Change Name

Due to the didgeridoo...?

Brother have been forced to change their name after a legal challenge from an Australian band.

One of the year’s most discussed newcomers, Brother have been continually outspoken in their views. The indie upstarts have slated British music, with immediate comparisons being made to Oasis.

However Brother’s assault on the charts hasn’t gone exactly to plan. Now the group have been forced to change their name after a successful legal challenge from a Stateside-based Australian trio.

Now named ‘Viva Brother’ the band decided to change their name after a boost in profile across America. Radio play pushed Brother into the mainstream, where they came to the attention of their Australian doppelgangers.

The ‘original’ Brother are apparently an Australian trio who combine ‘the deep pulse of the didgeridoo, the soaring highs of the bagpipes, and tribal percussion.’

Briefly deciding to call themselves Brother UK, the band simply decided to ditch their initial moniker to avoid confusion.

Lead singer Lee Newell said: “A long time ago in a galaxy far far away three men decided one day that it would be a good idea to start a band called Brother. Many, many years later four frighteningly handsome devils in the desolate, post apocalyptic wasteland of Slough decided to do the same thing. But something called “litigation” got in the way. However with this out of the way we do finally feel free. Brother is dead. Long Live VIVA BROTHER!”
