There were several cherry popping moments on the second day of London Collections: Men, with Common’s debut presentation and Kit Neale going solo.
Completing the trio of first timers was Casely-Hayford, last night celebrating the label’s fifth anniversary with a full catwalk show.
For their biggest statement to date – as 7pm in the Old Sorting Office marked – 30 looks competed for attendees praise, with check suits of red and black, toweling Hawaiian jumpers and neoprene jackets all winners.
As Savages’ ‘Shut Up’ played loud, several themes paraded down the runway, ranging from modern graphic logo tees and sports inspired sweatshirts to smart suits and punk tinted knits, all thrust together in a way that wouldn’t make you question why, such was the effect.
Offering a made to measure service alongside the ready to wear line, the last few seasons have seen Casely-Hayford clothes distance themselves from the tailoring with which they started, instead providing collections that focused on the sportswear side, underpinned with a clever cut.
While the cut remained key – those trousers! – here sportswear was played down, a hippy esc undertone instead taking the lead, enforced most prominently with the dream catcher style necklaces that accompanied a number of looks.
