Imagine the desert of 1970s California, a band pulling out in a shiny silver tour bus and driving off into the sunset, ready to conquer the world.
If that sounds like a clichéd scene from Almost Famous, then it’s in good company with this second album from London’s Tribes.
Recorded at LA’s Sound City, these 11 tracks are much more Americanized than their first effort, 2012’s ‘Baby’. ‘Dancehall’, ‘Looking For Shangri-La’ and ‘Street Dancin’’ all glimmer with the nostalgic sheen of sunshine rock.
Essentially, it’s a bit like putting Elton John’s ‘Tiny Dancer’ on repeat and pretending you’re in that bus scene. Just not quite as good.
