TOY - TOY

A strong, self-assured debut
TOY - TOY
Grabbing our attention earlier this year with a thrilling performance at a Clash issue launch party, TOY have divided critics and united fans. OK, their patchwork approach to songwriting - liberally borrowing from rock’s outer regions - isn’t entirely original, but it sure as hell sounds thrilling. ‘My Heart Skips A Beat’ remains a stomping piece of psych inspired songwriting, while ‘Motoring’ is all Neu! drumbeats turned on their head and far out Moog explosions raining down on their expertly chosen vintage amps. A strong, self-assured debut offering ‘TOY’ represents a band who are capable of channelling multiple identities without losing sight of their own.
