Further back in the mists of time, The Stepkids have chosen ’70s funk, soul and lysergic psychedelia as their anchor point. The standout ‘La La La’ is a slice of sleazy Harlem retro funk, while the squelching beats of ‘Santos & Ken’ could be the soundtrack to any and every vintage porn film. The Connecticut trio boasts former Lauren Hill and Alicia Keys touring band members - guaranteeing ‘The Stepkids’ is as tight as it is lovingly reverential.
