From ballsy, sneering guitar music to mature, string-laden AOR, The Last Shadow Puppets’ Alex Turner and Miles Kane seem to have temporarily exchanged the zip-up tops and canvas trainers of their day jobs for blazers and shiny brogues.
Their second single begins abruptly as if you’ve walked in at the middle so though it’s barely two minutes long the song feels epic. Yet it is not so gauche as to be grandiose, rather it has an unassuming sense of its own importance. It appears that indie hero Turner has also managed to become a successor to Scott Walker.
