Following on from their successful debut album The Loon, US four-piece Tapes’n Tapes release their second album Walk It Off this month.
Hang Them All is the first single and sees a decidedly darker tone to their standard new wave funk. There’s a spooky organ and tortured vocals from Josh Grier that walks the same dark roads as the likes of Clinic or a heavily sedated Iggy Pop. Later the lynch-mob chorus turns in a stadium-filling Bruce Springsteen chant. Neither of these styles are bad things but overall the song feels too mixed up and so is more interesting than great.
