The latest single from their In Rainbows album sees more musical adventure from Radiohead – well the rather classic simplicity of this song seems pretty adventurous coming from them.
It’s a slow, haunting ballad with Thom Yorke’s voice denuded of its characteristic creakiness, though naturally there are backwards bits, a mechanical beat and Yorke manages to squeeze in an angry “you go to hell” lyric. Essentially Nude is Radiohead doing what they do best and that is writing really pretty songs – even if there are touches of Paul Young’s Everytime You Go Away about this one.
