You can't listen to the radio at the moment without hearing this lot. But it’s easy to see (and hear) why they’re on the edge of success.
On the yearning ‘Everest’ or the haunted hip-hop of ‘Night Mail’ the duo captures a truly euphoric sense of retro-futurist optimism. There’s a visceral charge to Willgoose’s guitar.
The sampling is primitive – not for PSB the complex path-work of The Avalanches. But this gives the album a distinct, recognisable sound.
You can skip the cinematic intro and the uncharacteristically dour ‘Late Night Final’, but for the most part, ‘Inform - Educate - Entertain’ is fresh and fun.
Long may the sounds of yesterday’s futures haunt our airwaves.
