Placebo – Loud Like Love

Easy to absorb musically and easy to ignore lyrically...

Conquering such groundbreaking topics as sexuality and social media, Placebo are back with their seventh studio album ‘Loud Like Love’.

To an involved believer in Brian Molko and company, this could be exactly what you want from the dolled-up trio: more of the same, but maybe a little less intense.

‘Hold On To Me’, the most subdued track on the record, is also the strongest. It seems to have less of a ‘trying’ nature than the rest of the album, which within its brooding monologues and social narratives feels like it was really searched for.

Easy to absorb musically and easy to ignore lyrically, ‘Loud Like Love’ is 50 minutes of simply okay alt-rock.

6/10
