Australian five-piece Operator Please formed to win a school Battle of the Bands competition and have gone on to win bigger awards in their home country.

Get What You Want is their second UK single and it’s another winner. A funky bass line kicks off a smart piece of psychedelic new wave, while singer Amandah Wilkinson – a non-showy Gwen Stefani – sneers at her peers with lines like “My lingo is so out of the loop”. Her band’s style is too with its jerky keyboards and violins but these teenagers are fast becoming the coolest kids in town.
