Oneohtrix Point Never – Replica

A brooding testament to patience and investment

Undivided attention. It’s a bit of a commodity in this dizzying digital age with synapse snapping concentration spans and an over exposure to a wealth of information we don’t need or want now. It’s an indulgence Oneohtrix Point Never commands. Building shifting ambient electronic compositions, there’s no easy way into his world and ‘Replica’ is a brooding testament to patience and investment. Opener ‘Andro’ sets the foreboding tone, seeping and creeping on like an army of sentinels in some dead-space future but Daniel Lopatin’s commitment to the traditional – his beloved Roland Juno-60 is prevalent – and eerie craft blurs a dark journey to the sonically infinite.
