‘Feelin’ Good’ is a metaphysical nightcap where a party threatens to break out.
On a sticky back-to-mine, the evergreen George Evelyn aka Nightmares On Wax takes a reading of the buzz in the room, cues up crisp funk shuffles (‘Tapestry’, ‘Now Is The Time’) and hip-hop acknowledgements, before tidying the lounge with soul numbers, trip-hop kernels and instrumentals that feather down to put bodies and minds at rest.
A homecoming of sorts to the road trip of 2008’s ‘Thought So…’, Evelyn offers up the wiles and wisdom of a neighbourhood good guy, or more accurately, the distinction of an original Warp beat sage, providing contented listening caught lacing up a shelltoe.
