Adding to an already impressive portfolio of remixes and originals, Mock and Toof have raised the bar on their debut album. Taking disco, post punk, deep house and other credible forms of mature dance music as their foundation, the duo have created a definite contender for album of the year so far.
The majority of tracks combine a leftfield dancefloor aesthetic with a broad sonic palette, and although vocalists Pollyester and Gavin Gordon seem heavily indebted to Chicks on Speed and Steve Mason respectively, the quality songwriting and overall panache proves they’ve succeeded at their own, brilliant sound.
