Meursault - Something For The Weakened
There are moments on this album when the sound soars so grandly it's hard to remember the sombre, delicate song it has mutated from within. Although essentially a lo-fi indie act, Meursault's sound is a strange and curious thing. The laidback vocal interplay on 'Dearly Distracted' sounds like gently mooing cattle and the general laconic Scottish burr brings back exceedingly fond memories of early King Creosote. Opener 'Thumb' would likely warm the heart of the average Beirut fan, whilst 'Flittin' is a fine, ramshackle mid-paced rocker. It's far from an instant classic but, given time, it latches onto your world. You won't send it away.
