Brooding, jazz-flecked electronica

Fading into the background isn’t something you could accuse Marconi union of. While they aim to capture ethereal atmospheres in their music, they employ a wider sphere of reference, incorporating elements of dub and jazz too. Their introspective ruminations are affecting and bring something new to the world of ambient music. With the self-titled Portico Quartet album and now ‘Different Colours’, 2012 is shaping up to be a strong year for brooding, jazz-flecked electronica.
