Falls into the classic double album trap...
M83 - Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming

How do you follow up a record that’s achieved unexpected success and critical acclaim? If you’re Anthony Gonzalez, you take the route of bands as diverse as The Beatles and Guns N’ Roses: you make a double album. Like most doubles, the results are mixed. ‘Midnight City’ feels like a natural development of the ‘Saturdays = Youth’ sound, while ‘Wait’ is as yearningly lovely as anything by Fleet Foxes. But there’s a lot of slightly tedious ambient wallpaper. Sure, it works to unite an otherwise diverse set of songs, but you can’t help but think there’s a much better play list waiting to be whittled down.
