Despite the gloomy title, the fourth album from Los Campesinos! is as in your face as you’d expect. It may be their relationship fail record, but that doesn’t mean that it’s morose. Opener ‘By Your Hand’ is a blistering singalong that raises the bar high and there’s a newfound maturity on the title track. Of course, how much you dig it depends on how you feel about Gareth Paisey’s vocals. He still alternates between captivating and grating. The best moments remain the songs where the band moves as a unit, conjuring a sense of hope and elation, rather than falling back on tired, shouty punk clichés.
