Koop - The Crash

Essex three-piece outfit Koopa are being heralded as “history makers” thanks to their status as the only unsigned band to have hit the UK singles chart twice.

New single The Crash is their attempt for the hat trick as they persist with a path that deviates from the music industry’s regular route to success. It’s actually quite a surprise that they haven’t been picked up by one of the major labels yet, as this is the kind of bland, indie rock fayre record companies love to foist upon the innocent public. It’s a haphazard mess of half-rapped, half-sung verses about “getting drunk and having fun”, pedestrian metal riffs and a twee, sing-a-long chorus. As people like Joseph Stalin have proved, the term “history maker” isn’t always a good thing.
