Kippi Kaninus - Happens Secretly

Kippi Kaninus is the alter ego of just one man, Iceland’s Gudmunder Vignir Karlsson, who has worked with both Bjork and Sigur Ros.

Unsurprisingly his music is minimal and glacial electronica as sparse as a deserted forest and about twice as atmospheric. Obviously you’re not going to find any killer tunes on here, but as a voyeuristic insight into one man’s brain it makes for interesting listening, as Karlsson is able to express more through a synthesised electronic box than many pop monkeys could with an infinite amount of typewriters.

Putting aside how obvious aspects of the back story here are, ‘Happens Secretly’ is a sedate and intellectual affair that deserves attentive ears.
