Kings Have Long Arms is the odd soubriquet for Sheffield based musician Adrian Flanagan.
His latest single sees him team up with Candie Payne on vocal duty for a chirpy slice of soulful electronic pop. It uses the same rain-defence metaphor as Rhianna’s big hit from 2007 but without an ounce of the same wit, passion or quality. Like a less interesting Lemon Jelly, Big Umbrella is the kind of cheerful, weather referencing nonsense that should suit the ephemeral idiot tone favoured by mobile phone companies. Yes, it’s this year’s Feist. Enjoy it, suckers.
