A sombre affair

Outside his day job with Radiohead, Greenwood has created quite a reputation within a more classical realm. Having written a number of soundtrack scores, he became Radio Three’s Composer In Residence in 2004. This latest piece of work is a sombre affair, mainly performed by the BBC Concert Orchestra.

There are interjections of bare guitar and three numbers by Can, adding a degree of bleakness. The problem with any soundtrack is that, in isolation, something gets lost and there’s no exception here, but it serves as a showcase for a virtuoso performer with the dexterity to excel within any discipline.
