Goldheart Assembly – Wolves & Thieves

A damn good debut...

Upon hearing that the six young men who make up Goldheart Assembly wear beards, are passionate music geeks and boast a ‘carefree’ attitude to performance, you might fear we were in the dark days of meat and potatoes dad rock once more.

Thankfully Goldheart Assembly arrange such details in a joyous fashion that this debut album takes flight from opener ‘King Of Rome’ onward. Immediately slowing things right down on second track ‘Anvil’ may squander momentum but it’s thankfully pretty enough to hold the attention. The mood continues to amble between ballads and mellow strollers, never matching the opening song in tempo or energy. A damn good debut but someone give them some moonshine eh?

6/10
