Twenty-one-strong female choir
Gaggle - From The Mouth Of The Cave

On paper Gaggle are a very interesting prospect: a twenty-one-strong choir, all of whom are women. Formed in 2008, the time has come to see whether this concept translates into a cohesive collection of songs. The number of topics and genres touched upon by Gaggle here is impressive, though sometimes it can get a bit cluttered. ‘Power Of Money’ moves along with a slowly pulsing, tribal groove; while ‘Gaslight’ is fraught with tension and laced with glitchy drum patterns. Not easily digested at first, ‘From The Mouth Of The Cave’ may take a few listens to fully appreciate the intricacies going on beneath its busy surface.
