Dum Dum Girls – I Will Be

A Mary Chain-esque love of reverb, fuzz and crappy drumming

Emerging from the industry CMJ conference last year with the accolade ‘#1 best band’, there’s no small amount of hype surrounding this female quartet.

Teaming a Mary Chain-esque love of reverb, fuzz and crappy drumming with slick, sweet female vocals, they go some way to encapsulating JAMC’s avowed love of 60s girl groups and their own noise agenda. With production by Richard Goettehrer, who has worked with Blondie, the Go-Gos and others, sees the Dum Dum Girls sound achieve an authentic, balanced sound, deliberately lo-fi and tinny yet listenable and intoxicating.

‘I Will Be’ sees what should be a niche curio sound like the next big thing.
