dEUS - Keep You Close

Accomplished and mature
dEUS - Keep You Close
For twenty years Tom Barman has fronted his Belgian minstrels, although commercial success outside their fatherland has been left wanting. Perseverance brings its own rewards I guess, and this sixth album by the band is a well-rounded proficient release. The sound is accomplished and mature, with diversity aplenty to gain attention; from the drama of ‘Twice’ to the balefulness of ‘Easy’ via the muscle of ‘Ghosts’, exemplifying confidence and the ability to convert it. Add a touch of subtle sleaze a la Fun Lovin’ Criminals, plus some tasteful brass interjections and you have an album of merit, albeit sadly insufficient to incite more extensive interest.
