On Tired Of This Life however, she’s all warmth. It’s a sweet, plaintive song that gently strums its acoustic way along country paths – the kind already well trodden by the likes of Gillian Welch. After such a feisty song as Bodyguard was, you’d think Landes had more life to her than this yet (allied with her unremarkable cover version of Tom Petty’s I Won’t Back Down on the b-side) this song suggests the melancholy of its title has sapped her sparkle.
