But her new single suggests it’s a misleading depiction. It does features a semi-jaunty banjo but Bodyguard is brilliantly simple rock music. A moody bass line and a measured beat propel the song in the downbeat direction of PJ Harvey but her voice has the washed out sunlight of Beth Orton. If Bonnie Prince Billy ever gave up murder for seduction it might sound like this.
