Never devoid of wonderment
Christian Loeffler - A Forest

Microhouse may have enjoyed its heyday on Cologne’s techno label Kompakt during the mid-’00s, but it’s alive and well on Christian Löffler’s debut LP for his Ki imprint. Drawing upon the tenets of techno to study aesthetics rather than work the body, ‘A Forest’ is another twinkling, wood-rustling example of how earthly realms can be explored through electronics. Pagan-inspired vocals from Gry add some emotional clout, but on the whole it’s harmonic field music with a beat. Never devoid of wonderment.
