Unlike most of today’s bands the duo behind Carbon / Silicon were actually alive for the early 80’s new wave scene.
Mick Jones and Toby James were making music together before achieving success with The Clash and Sigue Sigue Sputnik respectively, and have since reunited as Carbon / Silicon in 2002. This song is like a pleasantly rocking Public Image Limited though hampered by banal lyrics. They appeal to God, who “made the day and night”, to wonder “why do men fight?”. Surely the science of evolution would be a better place for such answers.
