Just as taking a prison and painting it in primary colours, adding scatter cushions and mood lighting doesn’t stop it being a prison, the addition of some layering of sound and a touch of nifty production doesn’t stop this band from sounding like Bo Ningen. Who, of course, sound like an angry militia on a runaway tank with a penchant for Krautrock. The slower, whirling tones of ‘Ten To Sen’ evoke postrock types Explosions In The Sky, but business is largely as usual. Fans of the debut will not be disappointed with the progression in the band’s sound, newcomers may still need their hand holding.
