It seems a surprising concept, but Bibio (aka Stephen Wilkinson) is practically a veteran.
Now on his seventh studio album in eight years, the Midlands resident waited until the fourth attempt to make his biggest impact, with 2009’s superb ‘Ambivalence Avenue’. The alliterative gem was his first for Warp Records, which has served as his home ever since.
2011’s follow-up, ‘Mind Bokeh’, was less captivating but still perfectly acceptable; and it’s this wheel that ‘Silver Wilkinson’ politely declines to reinvent for his latest outing.
No real surprises spring out, but tracks like ‘Dye The Water Green’ and ‘You’ demonstrate an impeccable creative beauty that his juniors will struggle to match.
