An album of huge promise
2:54 - 2:54

The Thurlow sisters are taking no chances on this, their much-hyped and eagerly-awaited debut album. Produced by the Mercury-winning Rob Ellis and mixed by the mighty Alan Moulder, ‘2:54’ is a brooding blizzard of New Goth anthems. ‘Sugar’ mixes metallic guitars with a dance-floor judder, while lead single ‘You’re Early’ is a magnificent upgrade on Nineties shoegazing beatmakers, Curve. While much of ‘2:54’ shines with a kaleidoscopic intensity, the uniform pace detracts somewhat ahead of the closing high points - the nagging post- punk of ‘Ride’ and the seething ‘Creeping’. An album of huge promise rather than an instant classic - 2:54’s time will come.
