Hits London for 2010
Red Bull Music Academy

Imagine the start of Police Academy as all the varied young and wacky hopefuls enrol but crossed with the start of celebrity Big Brother where a confident musical slouch fills the air.

Welcome to the Red Bull Music Academy.

Each year the peeps over at Red Bull bless a city in which they land in the manner of benevolent extra terrestrials bringing studios, banging gigs, canonical legends, incisive radio stations, underground music nous, a panel of locally picked musical tutors – and most crucially: a bag of the brightest and fastest youngsters in new music from around the world.

60 young musical minds meet in London from February 7th for six weeks of intensive workshops, swapping notes and exchanging ideas: This is the sparking frictions, where different fractions meet, the very moments when people from the most diverse backgrounds come together and creativity materializes: This is the very essence of the Red Bull Music Academy.

This year the likes of urban lords DJ Zinc and Flying Lotus will be tutoring the young tune slingers whilst legends from around the world, including Soul ll Soul, Goldie, Carl Craig, A Guy Called Gerald, to the Heritage Orchestra, Moodymann, The Scientist and Roots Manuva drop in to share their precious knowledge before dazzling Londoners in venues in all four corners of the city.

Here we'll be presenting interviews, videos, radio shows and reports from the live front line to keep you abreast of the breaking ground from youngster and veterans alike.

Keep 'em peeled.
