New album 'Peasant' incoming...
Richard Dawson

Richard Dawson has posted beguiling new cut 'Soldier' online - check it out below.

The North East songwriter can't help but be himself, sluicing together English folk, country blues, and so much more into a stark, deeply honest style.

Ambitious new album 'Peasant' is incoming, with the songwriter attempting to produce “panorama of a society which is at odds with itself and has great sickness in it, and perhaps doesn’t take responsibility – blame going in all the wrong directions”.

New cut 'Soldier' is online now, a barbed wire flurry of acoustic notes delivered with incredible intensity.

“’Soldier’ is an old tune with new words,” says Dawson of the new song. “I wrote them around the time of the EU referendum, so that’s in there, and it was also a period when I’d been on the road a lot and was missing my darling. It’s quite a desperate song in a way, though it also contains a lot of hope, and has a calm centre.”

Tune in now.
