Bookmakers odds are being slashed

An avant garde piece by John Cage could be set to claim this year's Christmas number one slot.

It remains one of the most controversial pieces of modern classical music. American composer John Cage debuted '4.33' more than five decades ago, igniting debate after playing four minutes and thirty three seconds of sheer silence.

Now an internet campaign to get the track to Christmas number one has received an enormous boost. An all star cast are set to re-record the track, which will then be released as a single.

Sparked by a Facebook campaign, producer Paul Epworth will take control of the recording session. Taking place at Dean Street Studios in Soho on Monday (December 6th) the award winning producer will be joined by an all star cast.

More and more artists are being confirmed each hour, with the full list containing: Pete Doherty, The Kooks, Enter Shikari, UNKLE, Orbital, Billy Bragg, , Dan Le Sac, Reverend Jon McClure, Crystal Fighters, Mr Hudson, The Big Pink, Coldcut, Does It Offend You Yeah?, Penguin Prison, John Foxx and more...

The entire event is set to be filmed for a promo release, with Dick Carruthers taking control of the crew. Set to be remixed by Alex Metric, Herve, Adam F, Hot Chip and more '4.33' is one of the year's most unusual projects.

Set to be released through Wall Of Sound on December 13th, all proceeds are set to be donated to charity. Named 'Cage Against The Machine' by fans, the campaign is being to ignite with bookmakers slashing the odds of '4.33' getting to number one.
