Arcade Fire Prepare To Return
Canadians prepare to work on third album
While it's perhaps a little over the top to describe a band who are only a few years old as 'seminal', Arcade Fire are pretty damn influential.
Since their debut album 'Funeral' dropped it has become an increasing trend for bands to inch away from the insular, scratchy template and aim for something a little grander. 'Funeral' came with bucketloads of ambition, an emotional roller-coaster that charmed everyone who heard it - so much so it features in our Essential 50!
However since the group finished the world tour for their second album 'Neon Bible' in February last year, little has been heard of Arcade Fire. Sure, the band haven't exactly been lazy but fans have been left gasping for new material.
It seems that the celestial Canadian may be about to grant their request. In an interview with Montreal Gazette, singer Win Butler claimed the band were now ready to focus on creating new music.
"We feel really creative right now. We're in a really good space as a band," he explained. "This last year was the first break we've had in five years. Everyone feels really rejuvenated and excited. I'm happy to play music."
The band have, however, managed to release a tour documentary 'Miroir Noir' which came out earlier this month.
"We tried to finish other film projects before, and always failed. The great success (of this film) is that we finished it. I'm happy with it. I think it's interesting, and I think it's true to the band, which is the main goal" he said.
Arcade Fire recently returned to the studio to record a version of their song 'Wake Up' for the forthcoming Spike Jonze movie 'Wild Things'.
