Zutons Dropped?

Liverpool band part ways with label

Liverpool indie poppers The Zutons have apparently been dropped by their record label, if reports are to be believed.

Emerging from a golden generation of psychedelic popsters, The Zutons were amongst the most successful bands in that wave of scouse-pop, becoming a massive live attraction in the process.

Debut album 'Who Killed... The Zutons?' was a huge success, with its follow up spawning 'Valerie' - one of the decade's biggest singles. Covered by Amy Winehouse and Mark Ronson, it proved the sheer pop nous of the band amongst peers point scoring with daily trends.

The band's last album 'What's Your Problem' failed to chart while The Zutons' third album 'You Can Do Anything' received mixed reviews. Now it seems the group have split with label Deltasonic.

Frontman Dave McCabe told British red top Daily Star that he was disappointed with the critical reception that was afforded to the album. "I wanted it to go to Number One and sell millions. I'm gutted," he said. "I just can't understand it - maybe it's just our time to fall out of favour, but we'll just keep gigging. That's what we love doing the most."
