Yeah Yeah Yeahs Talk Live Action

Brooklyn trio Yeah Yeah Yeahs have spoken to ClashMusic with drummer Brian Chase naming his live moment of the year.

It's been a year of unexpected comebacks. The Horrors revealed they could write songs, while Noah And The Whale dumped a whole lot of heartbreak on us.

However Yeah Yeah Yeahs' new album could be the most surprising return of all. Ditching their guitars for a parade of antique synths the band holed themselves up with producer Dave Sitek to work on startling new material.

Re-emerging with 'It's Blitz' earlier this year the band demonstrated a love of disco glamour. Speaking to ClashMusic, drummer Brian Chase revealed that the group were delighted with the reception they had been given.

"This record was a bold step and I'm glad that people were able to feel what makes the music on the record so special for us. We have had much success with the record for this year, especially with getting out there and playing shows, but there is always more that can be done in terms of supporting this material and connecting with people. The record has been building in a great way and it continues to grow."

Pushed on his favourite moments of the year so far, Yeah Yeah Yeahs drummer Brian Chase chose appearing on American television institution 'Saturday Night Live'.

"I'm not sure what THE highlight was for 2009 but one of the highlights was performing on Saturday Night Live. We have all been fans of the show since we were kids and New York is such an integral part of our lives that to be there was a particular honor for us."

"The stage was set up to resemble Grand Central Station and it all felt very New York, as if our pasts and presents were colliding intensely at that single moment. We were nervous but everyone there is so cool and funny that they made it very enjoyable for us."
