Yeah Yeah Yeahs Plan All Ages Show
Nick Zinner talks about move
Spectacular Brooklyn trio Yeah Yeah Yeahs have claimed that they plan to play some all ages shows next year.
The growth of underage shows has had a stunning affect on British music. A series of cult nights across London have seen the age barriers lowered, allowing fans who are not eighteen to catch their favourite bands.
Spawning its own festival - London's Underage - the movement has also allowed bands such as Bombay Bicycle Club, who were able to tour the nation before they were old enough to buy a pint.
In a new interview Yeah Yeah Yeahs have revealed that they are planning to play some all ages shows next year - but so far only Australian dates are mooted.
Speaking to radio station Triple J guitarist Nick Zinner revealed that the band had decided to play all ages shows simply because they think "kids have got to rock."
"If we could have our way, all of our shows would be all-ages. I mean, I just remember when I was sixteen and seventeen and really fanatical about music, it was so frustrating when I couldn't go and see bands."
"Where I was, a lot of bands would do matinee shows at you know, four in the afternoon or five in the afternoon which isn't really the same thing."
Nick Zinner also revealed that he is working on a book to be released next year. Featuring photos taken by Zinner himself, the book will contain shots from gigs, venue backrooms and life on the road.
Yeah Yeah Yeahs are set to return to the UK for a full scale tour in December.
