Hip hop icons return

Wu Tang Clan have arranged a full UK tour which could contain some new material.

One of the most iconic groups in hip hop, Wu Tang Clan are also one of the most difficult to keep track of. The group continually splinter into solo projects, with fans often doubting if the band will ever return.

Springing back into life last year, Wu Tang Clan have now announced a series of British tour dates. In an announcement, the hip hop collective promised that all surviving original members will be onstage together.

RZA, GZA, Method Man, Raekwon, Ghostface Killah, Inspectah Deck, U-God and Masta Killa will all be present performing songs from their seminal back catalogue as well as a tantalising glimpse of new material.

Apparently working on a new EP, Wu Tang Clan will give British fans a taste of where their music is heading. In a statement GZA said: “I feel really great about this tour and I love to perform in the UK. The British fans can expect lots of energy and we’ll be bringing our best, as we always do. We’re really excited about all performing together again and definitely looking forward to it.”

Filling in for a lost MC, rapper Young Dirty Bastard will take charge of the rhymes written by his father Ol' Dirty Bastard.

Opening in London's HMV Forum on June 11th, the hip hop crew will play two nights in the capital. Later Wu Tang Clan will head to Birmingham before playing a one off show at Edinburgh's Picture House.

Ending in Manchester on June 15th, the short tour is the most substantial piece of Wu Tang activity on these shores since 2007.

Tickets are due to go on sale shortly.

Wu Tang Clan are set to play the following shows:

11 London HMV Forum
12 London HMV Forum
13 Birmingham HMV Institute
14 Edinburgh HMV Picture House
15 Manchester Academy 1
