Wire Plan Live Album

After confirming a new UK tour

Wire have confirmed details of a new live album alongside a comprehensive British tour.

Wire’s career tends to go in fits and spurts. Their seminal opening salvo shuddered to a halt after three albums, before a number of electronic recordings in the mid 80s helped build a cult following in North America.

Spending the bulk of the 90s working on separate projects, the original line up of Wire reformed almost a decade ago. Since then, the group have released material which would put new groups to shame.

Recent album ‘Red Bark Tree’ was a great example: chock full of fresh ideas, it didn’t forget how to rock either. Completing a UK tour, Wire then travelled to the continent before flying out to the United States.

Confirming plans for a second – much longer – British tour, Wire have also revealed details of a special live album. Recorded on a previous date, the album will be handled by Pinkflag and is designed to coincide with the upcoming tour.

The recording will be on sale as exclusive merchandise on the tour, before being made more widely available once the shows have stopped.

Opening in Birmingham on November 15th, Wire will play shows in Manchester, Edinburgh, Glasgow and more. Travelling around the country, the seminal punk group will be joined by live guitarist Matt Simms.

The lengthy tour will hit Ireland for a handful of shows, before finishing in Sheffield on December 3rd. Ending in The Plug, tickets for the upcoming dates are due to go on sale shortly.
